COURSE OVERVIEW

This 8-week Industry Bootcamp with live instruction and course support will kick off with Unity Project Building to provide you with a framework for success. After completing your first project, the 6-week Virtual Reality Bootcamp begins. This course gets you straight into design for virtual environments and interactive experiences. You will work on two industry-ready VR projects that build your skills. Upon completion of this course, you will understand the process of VR prototyping & design and be prepared for a career in the competitive XR industry.

The 8-week program requires a weekly time commitment of:

  • 6 contact hours of live, online hours
  • 3-6 hours of self-study and project time
  • Weekly 1-on-1 office hours with teaching staff and community hours

Certifications

Upon completion, students earn a Certification badge and documentation affirming their mastery of the material and expertise in the topics covered.

PREREQUISITES

Applicants must meet the following program prerequisites to qualify for the program.

REQUIRED

  • Familiarity with sketching storyboards and design layouts
  • Experience with designing assets and basic design theory
  • Knowledge of 3D Modeling Software, Rendering Software, or Application Design Software
  • Experience with some of the following: Adobe Programs, Sketch, Figma, or Framer

OPTIONAL/PREFERRED

  • Experience with Lighting or Material Design
  • Experience with 3D Asset Modeling software such as Blender, Rhino, Maya, or Similar Program.
  • Experience with Animation Process

No, Unity experience is not required, the course is designed to bring you up to speed quickly on Unity and the tools you need to begin creating VR and AR applications. However, the portion of the class that covers the basics of Unity is very fast-paced. If you feel you may need more time to familiarize yourself with Unity we recommend starting with our XR Foundations: Developer course which will familiarize you with Unity over 4-weeks and prepare you for more advanced topics we focus on in this XR course.

We’ll teach you the skills to be familiar with C# programming and development with Unity. You’ll understand how to use the tools needed to develop custom virtual and augmented reality applications for yourself and clients. You’ll gain the skills that are necessary to transition to a career in the VR and AR industry, or complement your existing skills.

No, in the course we are device agnostic and often develop cross-platform using OpenVR and AR Foundation. We specialize in your device in one-on-one sessions, but it is not required to have any VR or AR device to get started.
